15 Free or Cheap things to do with kids at Walt Disney World

Image
Disney Sea - There are free Disney cruises This week I thought I would discuss the free or cheap things to do with kids at Walt Disney World. These are extra activities, which you may or may not be aware of – that add to your holiday experience. 1 . Kidcot Funstops and EPCOT Passports Kids can get special Passports ($10 USD) at Kidcot Funstop at any of the 11 World Pavilions in EPCOT. The Passport comes with stickers and pictures of each country and makes a nice souvenir. The idea of the Passport is to get a stamp and a personal message from a Cast Member at each Kidcot Funstop . The cast members inside the World Pavilions are from their respective countries on the Disney cultural exchange program – usually h ired for a 12 month stint.    I would really recommend buying the Passport as it gives the kids something to look forward to at each pavilion, its educational (the Cast members at these Kidcot stations are only too happy to chat to you a...

10 Tips for Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

Image
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan I find Aquariums quite relaxing and the fish displays are quite colourful and mesmerising. When I found out that Osaka had one of the biggest Aquariums in the world we had to visit it on our trip to Japan! We have seen other Aquariums in the world* so I can easily make a comparison in how great this aquarium actually is. We visited Osaka Aquarium in mid April 2019.  Osaka Aquarium was a great family day out with a large shopping mall conveniently found next door. The above ground eight storey building was indeed impressive (unlike any others I’ve seen) and the aquarium housed many marine animals I had never seen in any of the other world aquariums.  You start your journey with an escalator ride to the top of the 8 th floor and work your way in a downwards spiral through the building. Osaka Aquarium was not as ‘pretty’ as the SEA Aquarium Singapore but it certainly was impressive. Educationally, there was information about each o...

20 Need to Know tips for Magic Kingdom

Image
This week I review Magic Kingdom (MK) at Walt Disney World, Orlando. I review the rides, good places to eat and things to do. We are a family of three, with a 10 year old and we travelled to Magic Kingdom in April 2018. MK is actually on the second floor of the park. The first floor is filled with tunnels known as 'Utilidors'. In these Utilidors, deliveries are made, cast members access attractions and garbage is removed . 1. Disney World Railroad - A lap around the park via the train takes 20 minutes. Walking is the fastest means of transport in MK. The shortest lines for this train are at Main Street. It doesn’t take you through a Dinosaur cave though like in Anaheim and Tokyo Disneylands. It just does a loop around the park which shows a different perspective of the park. At busy times there’s a train every four minutes. It shuts down during a parade though, so don’t line up then. Disney World Railroad 2. Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover...

There are a few different areas in Disney Springs:  The Marketplace (the main shopping area) The Landing (an area along the waterfront and with many more restaurants) Town Centre (more shopping) West Side (more restaurants)  Disney Springs - many big brand shops are here. These are not discount outlet shops though! Disney Springs is easy to get to as all the Disney resort buses stop there and they have sign posts for the bus stops to get back to your hotel. Tokyo Disneyland - A family review

Image
The Winnie the Pooh ride ©Troid family This week we have a Guest review from the Troid family who visited Tokyo Disneyland for the first time in January 2018. The Troid family are a Family of 5 (Mum + Dad + two kids 5 & 13 + Grand Mum (67)) from Australia. This is their review of their time in Tokyo Disneyland and a few other things they did in Japan too! Where did you stay in Tokyo? Can you recommend? Hotel name..Pools? Busy? Facilities? Food options? We stayed in a one bed room apartment with 3 beds+1 bathroom + small kitchen. I got this room through Airbnb and it was quite spacious in a quiet neighbourhood area. It is close to Nishishinjuku gochome station and Hatsudai station. Basically, the owner   prepared everything on earth you could possibly need- Shampoo, Conditioner, Bath gel, hair cap for showering, Slippers, batteries, basic kitchen utensils, microwave, Laundry machine and laundry powder –   just like home. Also very convenient was that...

Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Universal Studios - All your questions answered

Image
This week, L.C a former WDW Cast Member was able to answer all my questions about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (WWoHP) at Universal Studios Florida. As a Florida resident and Annual Pass holder, he was able to go to Universal Studios regularly. Below he shares his tips and experiences about the Harry Potter rides, suitability of rides for young kids, what to see in the shops, how to beat the queues, food options and whether its worth gett i ng an interactive wand or not!  Universal Studios has Diagon Alley and the Escape from Gringotts ride. Islands of Adventure has Hogsmeade, Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff and (the now retired) Dragon Challenge. Both parks have an Ollivanders store to buy wands in. Flight of the Hippogriff and the now retired Dragon Challenge Flight of the Hippogriff is targeted more towards a younger crowd from the rest of the park and involves a small rollercoaster that has some twists and turns but nothing t...
