Is the Memory Maker PhotoPass worth it?



This week I discuss whether the Walt Disney World Memory Maker PhotoPass is worth it or not.

Walt Disney World has a Memory Maker PhotoPass service open to its guests, whereby you can pre-purchase all your photos ($169 USD prepaid 3 or more days prior to commencement of your holiday) or after your trip ($199). If you are spending multiple days at the parks, this can be a great way to get all the photos of your family in all the photos. You just need to approach a Cast Member (with a camera) in the park, and they will take your family photos. Below is the Memory Maker video of the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train video you get when you do the ride.

Disney links the photos to your Magic Band/or entrance pass. Once your magic band is linked, Disney also includes automatic videos of some of the rides you go on and more. As long as all family members are linked in the App, everyones picture will be automatically taken on rides that offer this service and the photos will turn up in your photo feed. 

Once you return home from your vacation you can download all the videos and photos. Some of the photos have extra 'editing', like Tinkerbell added for instance. You might need to tell the photographer you want this feature as they don’t always do this automatically. Please note you only have a certain amount of days after your trip to download the photos however, so check the official Disney Website for conditions.

What you may not know about however (and this is what we did for our Orlando trip) - is you can also just do a one day Photopass for $69 USD. We thought it was worth it as we just consolidated all our must do photos into one park day. This option is on the My Disney Experience App only - and only appears on the app after you have taken at least one photo with a Cast member. We had our group photos taken at the Castle and we had some great videos of us on the Seven Dwarfs mine train. Whilst getting the PhotoPass for multiple days in multiple parks is great - be aware that there are often lines associated with getting photos taken (with characters etc.) and this will eat into your Disney time.

Lastly, any Cast member will take your photo for free with your own camera. So, often the Cast member would take our photo with PhotoPass, but then we would get the same identical family photo with our own camera. The only thing you do miss out on is getting the official 'on ride' photos and video (although please note that only a few rides have the video or on-ride PhotoPass feature anyway).

As you can purchase the Memory Maker photos after your trip - you can also do a costings of how many photos you really like (you can purchase photos individually) and how many photos are included in the PhotoPass. Whichever is cheapest might also be the way to go.

The Bamboo Forest in Kyoto This week I wish to share with you our trip to the Bamboo Forest, Kyoto. This place was on my bucket list and I was so happy to visit here. We visited in April, on a Monday, in the middle of Cherry Blossom season. Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan I find Aquariums quite relaxing and the fish displays are quite colourful and mesmerising. When I found out that Osaka had one of the biggest Aquariums in the world we had to visit it on our trip to Japan! 8 Reasons why you should visit Minoo Park

Minoo Park Waterfall We had a spare day to fill in Osaka, and we decided to spend it at Minoo Park after some recommendations from Facebook groups. Minoo Park is also known as Minooh and Minoh Park. I have no idea why this place has so many ‘other names’. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Minoo Park from central Osaka. The station you are looking for is Minoo Station on the Hyperdia.com website for navigating how to get there. We had a lovely day visiting this park. The weather was fine and there was a lot of greenery with lots of ‘tunnels of green’ to walk through. The 3 km hike to a waterfall is not onerous as it is very flat to walk (and so is also ideal for prams). The scenery was beautiful with lots of vermillion red bridges and old bridges. The largest Disney Store in the world! Disney Spring is an outdoor shopping mall located outside of the Walt Disney Parks. It is free to enter and has enough Disney magic to still feel like you are still inside the Disney parks. There ar e p lenty of big brand s tores, the biggest Disney Store in the world and free boat rides around Disney S prings. Its definately wor th a vi sit! 20 Need to Know tips for Magic Kingdom

This week I review Magic Kingdom (MK) at Walt Disney World, Orlando. I review the rides, good places to eat and things to do. We are a family of three, with a 10 year old and we travelled to Magic Kingdom in April 2018. MK is actually on the second floor of the park. The first floor is filled with tunnels known as 'Utilidors'. In these Utilidors, deliveries are made, cast members access attractions and garbage is removed . 1. Disney World Railroad - A lap around the park via the train takes 20 minutes. Walking is the fastest means of transport in MK. The shortest lines for this train are at Main Street. It doesn’t take you through a Dinosaur cave though like in Anaheim and Tokyo Disneylands. It just does a loop around the park which shows a different perspective of the park.
